The “cupcaketree” has emerged as a leading product for environmentally conscious brides who desire “greener” weddings. Concerned with the waste created by more traditional weddings, these brides are using “mindful indulgence” as their guide in choosing more eco-friendly products. One product that appeals to this “green” wedding movement is the corrugated cardboard cupcake stand manufactured by Cupcaketree.com.
“Our original cupcaketree already is the dessert stand of choice,” says Cupcaketree.com co-owner Judy Truesdell, who with her daughter Meg Truesdell, started the business in 2001. Sold under the trade name “The Cupcaketree,” the dessert display is completely recyclable, convenient and affordable – all important eco-friendly features according to Truesdell.
The Michigan-based company made a business decision early on to use corrugated cardboard for environmental purposes. “We knew that the corrugated industry insisted on reforestation and recycling in order to be responsible stewards of the environment,” says Truesdell. An added benefit is the stand’s light weight, which helps keep delivery costs down, according to Truesdell. Along with designing this innovative stand for wedding cupcakes, the company is one of the first manufacturers of this unique product. Nearly 70,000 cupcaketrees have been produced to-date with domestic delivery in every state and internationally 15 countries.

The 5-tier stand is offered in two sizes that can be purchased through Cupcaketree.com. The original stand holds up to 300 cupcakes. The newer mini version holds up to 100 cupcakes. A favorite among wedding caterers, the “Cupcaketree” also is purchased for use at receptions and parties. That the stand is manufactured in the USA appeals to many people. Although the corporate office of Cupcaketree.com is located in Niles, MI, the actual “trees” are manufactured in Sturgis, MI. The company has had several offers to expand its production offshore, but Truesdell says that local manufacturing is central to the company philosophy. “Using local sources to manufacture our products is just good business sense,” says Truesdell. “Not only does it help stimulate the economy, it helps keep jobs right here in Michigan.”

Cupcakes are selling like hotcakes and Cupcaketree.com is no stranger to this growing trend. “We developed our round cupcake tree in 2002 and it continues to be a great product,” says Judy Truesdell, co-owner of Cupcaketree.com with her daughter, Meg Truesdell. The dessert stand is very popular for weddings and large receptions and now the cupcake tower is also available in square formats. “Our brides are always looking for something different and the new square cupcake tree offers a degree of sophistication and simplicity we know will be appealing.”

Cupcaketree.com offers four styles of dessert displays. The Large Round Cupcaketree and the Large Square Cupcaketree hold up to 300 cupcakes and are perfect for large receptions. The Mini Round Cupcaketree and the Mini Square Cupcaketree hold up to 100 standard size cupcakes and are used for smaller weddings, showers, birthdays and graduation parties. The dessert stands are completely modular which allows the customer to customize the tree for their special event.

During these challenging economic times, the cupcake tree is an affordable alternative to wedding cakes. Many brides opt to make an event out of baking and decorating their own cupcakes, inviting family members and friends to join in. Others search out bakeries that specialize in cupcakes, choosing from a wide assortment of flavors and decorating options.

Cupcaketree.com works with hundreds of bakers and caterers across the country and they have also had an interest in the new square cupcake tower. It is popular because it is disposable and recyclable, which appeals to the food industry’s interest in eco-friendly products. “These cupcake displays are also lightweight and easy to assemble” says Mary Jo Halbritter, Event Planner, “and you can paint them to fit the color palate of the wedding.

Whether it is a square or round cupcake tower you desire, Cupcaketree.com is the website of choice for brides and hostesses seeking the perfect solution to offering individual desserts to their guests.

As we enter the new year we are eagerly anticipating our growing partnership with Brides a la mode.  Brides a la mode is a fabulous wedding planning resource center at City Plaza in Granger, IN.  They have done the leg work and created a one stop shop for the on-the-go bride.

Brides a la mode brings together the best of the best in event planning solutions.   They define the wedding trends, fashions and the go-to people that every discerning bride needs to create the wedding day of her dreams.

The second Sunday of each month vendors set up in shop so brides have a chance to meet them in a casual environment.  Binders for all preferred wedding vendors are always on hand at Brides a la mode and are full of business information and work samples.

Cupcaketree.com is creating our binder now and will have it available in the Brides a la mode studio after the first of the year.  We are looking forward to participating in second Sunday events this spring.  As we know the dates so will you!
